Course Details

This course builds on the CITB Health and Safety Awareness course and explores the role of site supervisor in relation to health and safety. The course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce.

Once you have successfully completed the Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course you will receive the Construction Industry Training Board's SSSTS Initial Certificate, which is valid for five years. Before it expires you can complete a 1-day SSSTS Refresher course to renew your certification.

If you're after your Gold CSCS (Supervisors) Card, then you need to head over to our "Get your Gold Card" page which will tell you exactly what you need to do to get it. Unfortunately, the SSSTS Initial course on its own won't get you a CSCS Gold Card.

This is a highly interactive course taught through case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual or group presentations. There is a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course.
